How It Works

Four steps. No waiting room. No ninety-minute drive.

We built Clarity because three-quarters of U.S. counties don't have enough hearing providers. Every step below happens in a browser tab, at your pace, with a real licensed audiologist beside you.

Step One — Assessment

A 15-minute hearing assessment, done from your armchair.

Our browser-based hearing check measures your response across multiple frequencies — the same ranges that matter for speech, birdsong, and the quiet voice of someone you love. You'll see your results as a visual frequency-response graph, no clinic required.

"I did the whole thing on my laptop before my morning coffee. It was nothing like I feared."

Margaret T., 63, Asheville NC
Step Two — Your Audiologist

A certified audiologist reviews your results — on camera, on your schedule.

Your results are matched to one of our licensed audiologists within 24 hours. They'll meet you on a video call, walk through your frequency graph together, and answer every question without the waiting-room clock ticking. Real-ear measurement guidance included.

"She explained exactly which sounds I'd been missing. Nobody had ever done that before."

Step Three — Your Device

If hearing aids are right for you, a calibrated device arrives at your door.

No showroom pressure, no upsell. If your audiologist recommends amplification, a pre-calibrated hearing device ships directly to you — matched to your exact hearing profile. Every device comes with a personal acclimatization guide and a dedicated support line.

"It arrived in two days. The packaging alone felt more thoughtful than my last clinic visit."

Diane M., 67, Phoenix AZ
Step Four — Fine-Tuning

Your audiologist adjusts your settings while you sit in your own living room.

The best fine-tuning happens in real life, not a soundproofed booth. Your audiologist connects remotely while you're in your kitchen, your garden, or the café where you've been struggling to hear. They adjust your gain curves in real time, right where it matters.

"We tuned it sitting at my kitchen table. She could hear my environment through the call and fixed it on the spot."

Why Remote Works

The evidence is quiet but clear.

Remote audiology isn't a compromise — in many cases, it's better. Fine-tuning in the real environments where you actually live produces outcomes that a soundproofed booth never could.

Real-Ear Measurement

The gold standard — finally available to everyone.

Real-ear measurements verify that your hearing aid delivers exactly the right sound at your eardrum — accounting for the unique shape of your ear canal. Only 30% of U.S. providers use it. We use it on every patient, remotely.

FAQ

Questions we hear all the time.

Plain answers, no clinical jargon. If something's still unclear, your audiologist will be happy to explain it on your screening call.

For most adults with age-related hearing loss, yes — and often better. A 2023 study in JAMA Otolaryngology found no significant differences in patient satisfaction between remote and in-person hearing aid fittings. The added benefit of real-world fine-tuning (adjusting your device while you're actually in the environments where you struggle) often produces better outcomes than a soundproofed booth ever could.

Just a laptop or tablet with a camera and a reliable internet connection. Our hearing assessment runs entirely in your browser — no app downloads, no special hardware. For the video consultation, any modern browser (Chrome, Safari, Edge) works perfectly.

Real-ear measurement (REM) is the gold standard for verifying that a hearing aid is delivering exactly the right amount of sound at your eardrum — accounting for the unique shape of your ear canal. Without it, studies show hearing aids can underperform by 7–10 decibels. Only about 30% of conventional U.S. providers use it. Every Clarity patient receives REM verification.

That's exactly who we built Clarity for. Three-quarters of U.S. counties lack sufficient hearing care providers. Our entire service is designed to be geographically independent — your audiologist is licensed in your state and will meet you wherever you have a reliable internet connection.

We offer a 45-day trial period on all devices shipped through Clarity. If the device isn't right for you — for any reason — we'll arrange a full return and refund, no questions asked. Your audiologist will also walk you through the acclimatization process, which typically takes 4–6 weeks as your brain adjusts to hearing sounds it may have been missing for years.

Many of our patients come to us through a family member. You can start the process, complete the estimator, and book the screening call on their behalf. The 15-minute call can include you as well — just let us know when you schedule. We also have a "Send to a Loved One" option that sends a gentle, plain-language email to your parent explaining the process in their own terms.

Yes, completely. The screening call is a conversation with a licensed audiologist — not a sales call. They'll review your assessment results, answer your questions, and tell you honestly whether they think further evaluation or hearing aids would help. There's no obligation to proceed with anything.

"Everyone mumbles nowadays" — it's one of the most common things we hear. It's also one of the most treatable.

The world hasn't gotten quieter. Let's bring it back.
